Slater: Sadler can’t rattle Cruz, as both paint each other in unflattering light

For much of Tuesday night’s debate, Democrat Paul Sadler tried to rattle Republican Ted Cruz and shake the smooth self-confidence that has marked his campaign for the Senate.

In a blowtorch of attacks, Sadler cast Cruz as inexperienced, as cowardly, as dangerous and a liar. He said Cruz’s ideas were “crazy” — Cruz’s assertion that Democrats benefited from voters depending on government was, Sadler said, “the craziest thing I’ve ever heard.”
